Harvard Business Review Publishes ‘Make Inclusive Behaviors Habitual on Your Team’

The origin story of the Inclusive Teaming body of work could have gone a very different way. When Kimberley was repeatedly ignored by the team we were working with, Shea could have replied:

“They didn’t mean it that way,” or “Maybe they misunderstood our roles.”

However, instead of possibly gaslighting her, Shea used Empathetic Mirroring and replied,

“Yeah, I saw that. That felt bad and I’m wondering how it made you feel.”

Although there are many ways inclusivity can be threatened in the workplace, Kimberley and Shea have mapped out five major pairs of Detractor and Amplifier patterns that are the most pervasive amongst corporate teams. Learn about the five in their latest article published by Harvard Business Review, Make Inclusive Behaviors Habitual on Your Team.

Kimberley quips,

“There are probably hundreds, if not thousands of patterns that could detract from inclusion or amplify inclusion, but we started with five.”
